Negative reviews: what can be removed and what can't

Google removes reviews that break its policies, and only those. It asks businesses not to report a review just because they disagree with it (Google Business Profile Help). So we do two things. We report every review that breaks the rules, such as fake reviews, spam, conflicts of interest and offensive content (Google Maps user-contributed content policy). For honest negative reviews, we answer calmly and help you fix the problem, while fresh reviews from your happy buyers bring your average up.

Faking or suppressing reviews also breaks the law. In the US, the FTC's rule on consumer reviews bans fake reviews and the use of threats or intimidation to remove negative ones, since October 21, 2024 (FTC). In Canada, the Competition Bureau warns that businesses can be liable for misleading reviews, including reviews posted by their employees (Competition Bureau). We never write, buy or filter reviews.
